Thomas Tuchel Questions Wembley Crowd Support Despite Comfortable Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel shared his regret that the England team did not enjoy greater backing from the Wembley spectators during their commanding triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

Tuchel was satisfied to see his squad continue their winning momentum, with goals from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter deciding the game. Yet, he was not content with the energy at the iconic venue.

“We had one and a half training days to prepare against a well-trained team and we excelled,” the coach remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at the break. We couldn’t score the additional ones. It was quiet. We didn’t get any energy from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them get away. If you hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the team deserved more support today.”

“I maintain my words. There’s nothing more than being 3-0 in a rivalry match. I would have wished for a greater backing in periods where it is challenging.”

“In the second half, to get behind us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s the way it went and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, the manager also caused a stir by excluding Bellingham and Foden from his team selection. But the decision was validated by Rogers delivering another standout performance in the No 10 position and getting his maiden goal for his country.

“He plays his game,” Tuchel noted. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Lessons from Loss

The Wales manager hopes that his team, who face Belgium in a key World Cup qualifier on Monday, improve after their awful first-half display.

“That’s the reason I wanted this match,” the manager said. “I wanted to assess where we are. What are our ambitions? What is our identity? Today gives me drive.”

Fitness Worry for Striker

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at the break after clattering into a goalpost and is a concern when England face their next opponents in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
