Law enforcement communicating with people on city street
A person, who was later arrested for reportedly assaulting authorities with a food item, communicates with Border Patrol and federal officers.

A US immigration agent has stated under oath he could sense through his protective gear the force of a sandwich hurled at him by a capital city activist, who has faced court proceedings for criminal charge.

Immigration and customs agent the government official told the legal jury the food item "exploded all over him" and he "could smell the vegetables and yellow sauce" on his official attire.

No party contests that the defendant, 37, did in fact hurl obscenities and a made-to-order snack at authorities deployed by President Donald Trump to patrol the Washington DC in August.

The occurrence was captured on recording and spread across the internet, making Mr Dunn a symbol of protest in Washington DC to the administration.

State lawyers originally tried to obtain major offense allegations against the defendant, but a judicial committee refused to charge him.

The former president's assignment of National Guard troops to the federal district this warmer months generated outrage from some of the local inhabitants, who considered it a partisan deployment of the armed forces.

Based on legal filings, the defendant came near a group of officers at about 11 PM on the summer date, describing them "authoritarians" and shouting: "Why are you present? Your presence is unwanted in my city!"

The court observed a re-enactment from Mr Lairmore on the court date as he took the stand against the defendant.

"I sensed it through my body armor," he testified of the sandwich's impact, adding that an onion string hung from his communication device and sauce discolored his uniform.

The defendant's attorney, Julia Gatto, said in her initial argument that launching the deli product was a "innocent action that did not, could not, create physical damage".

But state lawyer the prosecutor argued Mr Dunn must be held accountable.

"Regardless of identity, you can't just go around throwing stuff at people because you're mad," Mr Parron stated.

After the claimed attack came to light, the defendant was dismissed from his job as a law firm employee in the federal legal agency.
