Man Utd Boss Ruben Amorim States He Cannot Escape Poor Record
Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim endures the strain during the three-one defeat at Brentford
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim admits he cannot hide from his poor performance and states it is normal that club legends are criticizing him.
Recently, United's all-time scorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his podcast that "the heart has vanished" from his old club.
Amorim has achieved just 18 wins from his forty-nine games in charge, featuring 9 out of thirty-three in the Premier League, where he has yet to secure back-to-back consecutive wins.
While high-level club insiders are certain that the INEOS chief is still behind the manager, failure to beat newly promoted their next opponents on the weekend will ignite fresh discussion about his role heading into the upcoming fortnight pause in domestic football.
"It is expected," said the Portuguese manager, when questioned about the former striker's comments. "You can't hide from the performance."
"Then you have the history from last season, [although] last season for me is in the past."
Supporter Reaction and Current Situation
United's supporters stayed behind Amorim following last season's disappointing fare, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their poorest finish since the 1973/74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the European showpiece, in the expectation that this season would be considerably improved.
Amorim told supporters the situation would improve because he had additional time to prepare with his squad without the weekly commitment of continental football.
That is not how the initial six fixtures have materialised as Manchester United have suffered 3 defeats so far and sit 14th in the standings.
Coach's Reaction to Concerns
When asked what promises he could give fans that the position will change, the manager stated: "This is not time to talk, it is the time to prove."
"I analyze the games this season and, for me, they are entirely distinct, but I have little to say at this moment."
- Manchester United currently occupy 14th position in the top flight
- The manager has won just eighteen of his forty-nine matches in charge
- The former striker recently criticized the team's present situation
- Saturday's match against their opponents is critical for Amorim's position
