Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered numerous entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty levels, you'll face tough enemies and visit a market to acquire customizations for your dung hero.
Execute your actions with caution, since one error means starting over. Leap using floating orbs to hurl your character upward, navigate fragile ledges, and touch switches to open hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on tougher stages where gameplay gets crazy.
Graphically, the demo features neon stages and catchy background music. Its minimalist graphics featuring morphing geometric shapes could recall gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of previous releases where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment have long featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references is present a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive accolades, like being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on PC in the fall.
